Woodstock Patchouli

One of the main elements of classic perfumery is quintessential Patchouli, a very precious extract with unique characteristics. Patchouli is a perennial herbaceous plant whose leaves are dried and fermented to extract the amber-coloured essential oil. Pogostemon Cablin—this is its botanical name—grows wild, at between 900 and 1800 metres above sea level in South-East Asia. Patchouli became popular at the end of the 1960s thanks to the hippy movement, and was the scent of India evoking a fascination with oriental culture. It became the symbol of a bohemian lifestyle, wafting into the most exclusive parties of the Film and Music world.
